GPS Files

If you own a GPS device that can use Garmin's gdb file type or more generic gpx file type, the route files below may be used to help you navigate the Tour route.

Note: These are for Garmin and NavTeq handhelds not automobile units. These routes will work with the Garmin Edge 605, 705, 800, & 1000 models if you have the routable maps (City Navigator or Open Street Maps) installed.

NOTE: Sometimes GPS unit calculate new routes more to their own liking. The cue sheets you receive at the start are the official directions. We have driven them and know they work well. If there is any question about a turn, use the cue sheet.

Which file to use

There are two GPS files included here. Click on the file format to download the .zip file with that type.

Routing GPX format
Use this set of gpx files to allow active GPS routing.

To upload to your GPS device

After you download and open the .zip file you will see one routing file per day. Using MapSource (or a similar GPS map program), open the first day's route file and upload it to your GPS device. Be sure to include routes and waypoints in the transfer to your GPS. Repeat for each subsequent day.

Waypoint Information

+ Consider cleaning up the waypoints stored on your GPS device prior to loading the routes to make seeing waypoints easier.
+ For ease in identifying Tour waypoints, they all carry a blue flag symbol (except some hotels).
+ Waypoints for each day's route are numbered starting with 101 for Day 1, 201 for Day 2, etc.
+ Rest Stops are identified with the letters RS after the number prefix.
